Giving back.

As mentioned in the “About Us” section of this web site, we firmly believe that we are blessed, so that we can bless others.  As such, our family and farm are committed to the following charities and organizations.

Heifer International.  Heifer International (also known as Heifer Project International) is a nonprofit working to eradicate poverty and hunger through sustainable, values-based holistic community development. Heifer distributes animals, along with agricultural and values-based training, to families in need around the world as a means of providing self-sufficiency. Recipients must agree to “pass on the gift” by sharing animal offspring, as well as the skills and knowledge of animal husbandry and agricultural training with other impoverished families.

ZOE (pronounced zo’ey). ZOE is invited into communities where orphans are already living and brings them together in spportive working groups of 60-100 children. ZOE’s indigenous staff members help these children articulate their own dreams for their lives. ZOE then provides the small inputs and training they need to work together to transform their lives in just three years. These children who often feel beyond God’s love are able to both see and hear the gospel in ways that are compelling but not coercive.

Huck’s Feed the Hungry Initiative. Each year Huck collects cans of food from individual families
as well as various groups in exchange for a discount to our fall festival.  At the end of the season we bring these cans to Piggly Wiggly in Pittsboro who in turn donates this food to CORA Food Pantry in Pittsboro, NC.
